Cataleya’s Donut Party

My sweet baby turned one, and there was no better theme for her party than donuts and sprinkles. I actually didn’t want to have a big party because of the whole “oh she’s only one she has no idea what’s going on” but somehow something “small” turned into an explosion of donuts, sprinkles and balloons all over the place. When they say a 1st birthday party is for the parents, well they are right. I’m obsessed with donuts and so is Dennis, but both of my daughters have inherited the love for them as well. And since Sofia is getting bigger and now thinking about superhero theme for the future (I swear she plans her party the very next day after she celebrates her birthday haha) I thought it was the perfect opportunity to throw a donut themed celebration.

Now let’s start with the balloon arches. I got lots of questions on my stories about them. First, yes I made the arches. I blew (with an air pump) and tied around 300 balloons to the point that my knuckles were so swollen and about to burst (ouch!) The massive arch for the dessert table was made with chicken wire we used staples and nails to put it up in the wall. This time I started blowing he balloons 3 days before the party and the set up was two days before. Now this thing takes more than one person to set up, my mom and stepdad helped me. I tied two balloons together of different sizes and then used balloon ribbon to tie them to the chicken wire. The holes were filled with smaller balloons, I used clear tape this time because the last time I used glue they kept coming off. I ordered balloons from Bargain Balloons sizes 5″ to 40″ and the confetti balloons I purchased them at the 99cent store, even the giant one!

The smaller arch I used balloon ribbon, tied 4 together of different sizes and started stacking them up. The sprinkles decals were from amazon and Cataleya’s name was a gift and I also used it at my baby shower.

Now for the dessert table! To start my mom again came thru with her cake 🙌🏼 she made the cake just like I asked but bigger and better! The pictures seriously do no justice to her masterpiece. She also made the donut cookies that were oh so yummy. I am seriously so lucky to have such a talented mom! This lady never ceases to amaze me. The sign below I purchased at the 99cent store ($4.99), the cute donut albums were from Michael’s and the bubbles are from a local dulcería.

The sweet treats were from Berry Infused (@berryinfused on IG) this time she seriously surpassed my expectations. All the details in her pieces were unbelievable. I purchased these cute favor boxes from Amazon

I also made these candy kabobs? They are always a hit, kids and adults love them. Baby girl wanted to grab everything from the table but her favorite thing was the swirl lollipops 🍭 The “Donut Grow Up Sign” was from Amazon, Donut piñatas from the 99 cent store ($4.99) and the rainbow garland was from target The donut backdrop was from @popup_photoshop Bonnie has monthly themed photo scenes. They provide the backdrop and you can come take all the pictures you want! I purchased the donuts from my favorite donut shop Dutch Donut Factory in Mesa, bow from Baby Bling Bows, moccasins from Freshly Picked and her cute romper is from Etsy. Her piñata was from Dulcería La Bonita and I added some of the sprinkles decals.

I didn’t take pictures of the snack table but we had a variety of Mexican chips with toppings and nachos. My mother in law made green and red chili burritos that were to die for everyone had at lest 2-3 (I ate 5!), Some Burros party platters (with mini chimis, tacos and Guacamole) and I made rice and beans.

For the centerpieces I put pink and white roses with a donut accent that I purchased at the 99 cent store (score!)

We were so lucky it finally cooled down and the kids had a great time outside!

Everything went so smoothly thanks to the fact that I started getting everything ready two weeks before the party and thanks to all the help from my Mom, stepdad, Mother in Law and auntie Misty.

I tried to be as detailed as possible. Next time I make an arch I’ll try to record it and make a tutorial! Or maybe I should start a new business adventure? 🤔

Thanks to everyone who came and made Cataleya’s birthday party so special! We love you!

Xo,

Karla Marquez
